The main objective of this book is to provide drummers and
bass players with a close examination of the relationship between the bass
and the drums and show how both instruments build the grooves working
together with the rest of the band. Something that immediately comes to
mind when listening to any kind of popular music (funk, jazz, rock, latin
etc.... ) is the extreme importance of the groove and foundation. While
every musician in a band must work on their tempo, it is assumed that the
drummer's and bass player's job is, basically, to lay down the groove.
This is what the book is about: understanding where the groove goes, how
to feel it and how to play it. This book comes with a minus one CD for
playing along. Each of the 12 tunes in this CD has the full band version, the minus
one version, the drums alone groove and the bass alone groove, all of them in a separate track. |
